Lovers' Day arrives in Alicante, and the city has seized this opportunity to bolster support for local commerce, municipal markets, and hospitality. The City Council has launched a special campaign featuring prizes, raffles, and activities to celebrate the occasion.

Under the slogan 'Valentine's Day is in Alicante', three days of commercial revitalisation will commence on February 14th in the plazas 25 de Mayo, from 12 to 2 PM, and La Viña and Manila, from 7 to 8 PM. The activities aim to boost shopping and consumption in the neighbourhoods. Additionally, the flower stalls at the Central Market, will be open from 7 AM to 7 PM, with raffles of cabassets and gift cards for customers of the four markets.

Timings

  • Plaza 25 de Mayo: from 12 to 2 PM

  • La Viña: from 7 to 8 PM

  • Manila: from 7 to 8 PM

  • Flower stalls at Central Market: from 7 AM to 7 PM

The Councillor for Commerce, Markets, and Hospitality, Lidia López, alongside associations of Traders, Hospitality Entrepreneurs, and Municipal Markets, as well as Facpyme, presented the commercial campaign this Friday. The councillor highlighted that "these initiatives are well-received, bringing commerce closer to citizens, enhancing and fostering purchases, and bringing life to our neighbourhoods with activities and leisure, promoting local consumption."

Share Your Love Story and Win Prizes

This year, the commerce campaign includes an original activity in its commercial revitalisation days. The City Council has printed cards where love stories can be shared with a name and phone number, to be placed in boxes in the three plazas. A draw will be held on Monday at the City Hall, with results published on the website.

Attendees of the commercial revitalisation events can win a night at a four-star hotel with breakfast, a meal for two at the Mar Azul restaurant in Tabarca, or a Cabasset with products from Alicante Markets, among many other surprise prizes from our shops.

Activities, Valentine's Day Workshops, and Entertainment

The first day, Friday, February 14th, will begin at Plaza 25 de Mayo in the morning from 12 PM with street entertainment activities, Valentine's Day workshops, a 360º photo booth for participants to record their videos, music, and a giant heart encouraging Alicante residents to share their love stories and participate in raffles with gifts. The other two commercial revitalisation days will also be held on Friday evening from 7 PM in the plazas Manila and La Viña.

The Councillor for Commerce encouraged participation in this special celebration organised by the City Council, which aims to "promote, strengthen, and advertise our city's commerce," and committed to "continue celebrating these events to boost activity and contribute to the recovery of the commercial sector in collaboration with the city's associations and entities, with actions and initiatives that energise our local establishments."

All-Day Opening of Flower Stalls at Central Market

The municipal markets of Babel, Benalúa, Carolinas, and Central join the Valentine's Day campaign with raffles of cabassets, 14 gift cards worth 20 euros, and wireless headphones, in the campaign 'Come to the Markets to Find: Your Other Half'. By shopping at the associated market stalls, participants will enter the draw by placing their ticket in the designated boxes. Additionally, the Central Market flower stalls, located at Plaza 25 de Mayo, will have an extraordinary opening on February 14th, with uninterrupted hours from 7 AM to 7 PM.
