El Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante, in this occasion at Sala Chapí, will once again offer two grand musical styles in an intimate setting. This is Fijazz 2025, a powerful programme running from July 10 to 20, paying homage to flamenco and its roots alongside jazz.
The Culture Deputy, Juan de Dios Navarro, and the ADDA director, Josep Vicent, presented 'Root and Wings' this morning, a new edition of this event that will place the province of Alicante at the heart of music for a week.
"For the Provincial Council, it is a pride to present a new edition of Fijazz, which, backed by a long-standing tradition, has become an unmissable event for music lovers. This time, it also nods to our culture and roots by uniting two styles with the same trunk: emotion and authenticity," stated Navarro.
Josep Vicent highlighted the quality of this upcoming event "where flamenco will converse with jazz, two sibling languages united in a Fijazz that, for the first time in its history, will offer a programme entirely Spanish."
The Festival will kick off on July 10 with the Sevillian pianist and composer Dorantes, considered today as one of the best ambassadors of Andalusian music, presenting 'El tiempo por testigo', a fusion of Latin jazz and bulerías that maintains its classical essence. Another reference in Spanish music, flamenco and its fusion with jazz, is the pianist Chano Domínguez, who will perform on the 11th on the Alicante stage.
With a flamenco nature and solid classical training, the jazz influences bring a cosmopolitan perspective to the young pianist Andrés Barrios, who will present 'Km.0' on Saturday 12 alongside dancer Sara Sánchez and percussionist Manuel de la Torre. On Sunday the 13th, it will be the turn of the Catalan singer Mayte Martín, one of the most prestigious voices in the current flamenco and music scene, with her project 'Tatuajes', a series of reinterpretations of songs from all times.
With "Al cante", Caminero Trío seeks to integrate the Jerez voice of David Carpio into their jazz-flamenco repertoire, and this new combination can be enjoyed at the ADDA on Wednesday, July 16. The following day, it will be María Terremoto's turn, the third generation of a whole saga of singing, who will perform 'Manifiesto', a journey of emotional search, expiation, and rejoicing.
After the success of Chick Corea's concerts, Emilio Solla will return to Alicante on the 19th to exchange cultural heritages of tango, folklore, and flamenco with Antonio Lizana, filtered through jazz, with original themes and others by Piazzolla or Atahualpa Yupanqui. Finally, Antonio Serrano and Kaele Jiménez will present 'Jazz Caló' on the 20th, a proposal with reinterpretations of emblematic themes by figures such as Paco de Lucía, Chano Domínguez, as well as John Coltrane or Duke Ellington, among others.
As in previous editions, the Festival will apply a discount for those under 30 and over 65 years old. Tickets priced at 25 euros are already available to the public. Additionally, a pass for all eight concerts is offered for 120 euros, representing a 40% discount, not compatible with the reduced ticket. Purchases can be made online at the ADDA website.
