TodoAlicante's editorial team has prepared a summary of the day's events with the five news stories that have shaped the province's headlines this Wednesday, 14th May.
1
Storms have returned to the province of Alicante. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) had issued a yellow alert for this Wednesday in the northern region, in Las Marinas and the inland areas, for locally heavy rains that could be accompanied by hail. Click here to read the full story.
2
The number of arrests following the youth brawl that resulted in a death on 11th April has risen to six, with the recent detention of four more suspects, as confirmed by sources from the Provincial Police Station in Alicante to this newspaper. Click here to read the full story.
3
The Supreme Court has put another nail in the coffin of the Tajo-Segura Transfer, the latest target of Pedro Sánchez's government. The High Court opposes the gradual increase of ecological flows in the Tajo section affecting the Transfer, according to the basin plan, and brings forward the levels to 2025 instead of 2027. With this ruling, it will become increasingly difficult to have sufficient flow in the donor basin for transfers to the province of Alicante. Click here to read the full story.

If you're planning to move around the centre of Alicante this weekend, it's best to leave the car at home. The city faces a marathon of events that will turn the streets into a labyrinth from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th May. The coincidence of the proclamations of the belleas del foc, the Alicante Film Festival, and the MTRI triathlon will cause traffic disruptions, diversions, changes in public transport, and many areas difficult to access for private vehicles. The General Secretary of the PSOE in Alicante, Miguel Millana, has resigned from his position a little over a month before the party elects a new political leader to guide it to the 2027 municipal elections, challenging the Popular Party for the mayoralty. Millana leaves the local group in the hands of a management committee, which must organise the next assembly to be held at the end of June or early July. Click here to read the full story.
