The editorial team at TodoAlicante has prepared a summary of the day with the five news stories that have defined this Wednesday, September 4th.
The National Police are investigating a drug-related score-settling as the possible motive behind the murder of a man on Tuesday afternoon in Dénia. This is the main hypothesis being considered, although other motives are not being ruled out, according to sources from the investigation this Wednesday. The case remains open and all leads are being examined.
A storm unleashed a heavy downpour in Alicante early Wednesday afternoon, causing minor flooding in the neighborhoods of Benalúa, Miguel Hernández, Princesa Mercedes, La Florida-Babel, the city center, and the port area. This is the second consecutive day of these intense and brief rain phenomena, which are very typical for this time of year in Alicante.
The Valencian Government will double the main pipeline of the Júcar-Vinalopó water transfer. President Carlos Mazón announced that in the "coming weeks," the drafting of this project to improve this infrastructure will be commissioned. The works will have a budget of around 40 million euros.
After a record-breaking July and a more than positive August, September is expected to continue on this trend and result in a "technical full occupancy" in Alicante city hotels. Expectations and forecasts place accommodation occupancy in the capital above 91% for the last month of the high season.
The date for the first mascletà of the 2025 foguerer exercise has been set. The Federació de les Fogueres de Sant Joan will launch the first 'Pòlvora tot l'any' show on September 20th, marking the start of the newly created Pyrotechnics Gala in the city.
