The municipal council meeting in Alicante began this Thursday with around fifty firefighters gathering at the doors of the Alicante City Hall. The immigration offices are "at the limit," according to their staff, who find it "impossible to respond in a timely manner" to the requests of those visiting the offices. From now on, it will be much more expensive in Alicante to dispose of rubbish outside of designated hours, not pick up dog waste, or relieve oneself in public. The municipal council approved the new Cleaning Ordinance this Thursday, which increases fines and their amounts. The regulation aims to be a tool to curb uncivil behaviours that dirty the city and includes fines of up to 3,000 euros. The Civil Guard has arrested a suspected Russian mobster hiding in Torrevieja. The fugitive was wanted for an international criminal conspiracy of a mafia nature and was sentenced in March 2022 to 11 years in prison by the Verona Court, according to sources from the Benemérita.
