The editorial team of TodoAlicante reviews the latest news and serves you the five most significant stories that occurred this Wednesday, September 18th in the province of Alicante:

The President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, has a clear roadmap for the current legislature: tax reductions based on fiscal deductions for the middle class and an expansive housing policy. He is aware that these are currently the two main issues in society. One is how to stretch wages that remain very low in a context of accumulated inflation over recent years; and the other is the inability of many population groups, especially young people, to access housing due to high prices. The hospitality sector in Alicante has "broken relations" with the Alicante City Council after the municipal government decided to implement two Saturated Acoustic Zones (ZAS) around Castaños Street and the Old Town, drastically reducing local activity until one o'clock in the morning. The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJ-CV) has provisionally suspended the instructions from the Department of Education regarding teacher staffing in educational centers, which were promoted this summer by the current Generalitat Valenciana under the Popular Party. Therefore, it maintains in force the agreements signed in June 2023 by the previous Botànic Administration with unions in the Sectoral Table. Link to the news.

Last-minute change. The first pyrotechnics gala of Alicante's Hogueras festival cancels the mascletà scheduled for this Friday, September 20th at 9 PM near El Sorell restaurant. Link to the news.

Last January, Luisma Roselló, an officer of Benidorm's Local Police, made headlines when he saved a baby's life who had choked on a candy thrown during the Three Kings Parade while off duty. That action, which he later said he didn't realize at the moment but was glad it ended well, made him a hero in the tourist capital. Now, almost nine months later, Roselló has repeated his heroic act by saving a girl who had just left school and choked on a gummy bear last Monday in a similar incident. Link to the news.
