Five Arrested, Including Two Minors, for a Brutal Beating in Alicante That Went Viral on Social Media

The National Police have arrested five Spanish males, aged between 15 and 20, in the town of Elche for allegedly committing an assault. The brutal attack took place at the entrance of a well-known nightclub located in the city center, and the recording of the incident was spread on social media.

The investigations began following the dissemination of a video showing several youths hitting another male. The judicial police officers from the Elche Police Station, upon learning of such incidents, conducted a detailed analysis of the video sequences.

The National Police initiated the investigation on their own, due to the absence of a prior complaint from the victim. They managed to initially identify the victim, a witness, and several employees of the venue. This was achieved with the help of initial inquiries conducted by a public safety patrol at the scene, shortly after the assault occurred.

The victim was summoned to the police station, where he stated that he did not know why he was attacked as he did not know the assailants. In his statement, he mentioned that he tried to mediate to stop the assault attempt but was unsuccessful. Likewise, the witnesses and employees also seemed not to know the perpetrators.

The victim sustained oral injuries, including the fracture of one of his teeth, as well as other minor bruises.

An analytical study of the video led to the identification of five of the perpetrators, four of whom had recently been arrested for similar incidents. Therefore, they were quickly located and arrested.

The adult perpetrators were brought before the Elche Magistrate's Court, and the detained minors were similarly processed before the Alicante Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.
