First Cancellations of Carnival Festivities in Alicante Due to Rain

First cancellations of the carnival in Alicante. The municipality of El Campello has announced the cancellation of events scheduled for this Saturday due to the Aemet forecast advising the Town Hall to cancel the celebration.

The council bases its decision on the "more than adverse weather predictions put forward by expert organizations," as a force majeure reason to suspend the carnival.

The weather forecast announces winds that could exceed 40 kilometers per hour and a "very high" probability of rain throughout the day. These phenomena, caused by the arrival of a new storm, have led El Campello to cancel its carnival.

The events were scheduled from 11 a.m. this Saturday until midnight, with a morning session dedicated to children and an afternoon-evening for young people and adults outdoors in the Municipal Park of El Campello.

The Councillor for Festivals and Traditions, Marisa Navarro, has met with representatives of the Festive Board of Moors and Christians, who were participating in the events, and agreed to the cancellation prioritizing people's safety, "which must always be the first consideration."
