Maximum registration limit set for the first Alicante-Elche international marathon. The event will be held on November 30th and already has nearly 3,000 registered participants, according to the records of the Montemar Athletic Club.
The organisers of the event highlight this "gradual increase" of athletes. Therefore, they have set a maximum registration limit of 5,000 participants for this first edition of the race between the two cities.
Additionally, the first Alicante-Elche marathon includes the Regional Championship of Marathon. "It is a new motivation for the registered regional athletes," the organisers also note.
The impact and attention that the International Elche-Alicante Marathon has garnered has also led to hosting this regional championship, which in recent years was held at the Valencia Marathon. In 2025, it is scheduled for a week after the Elche-Alicante event.
The international Alicante-Elche marathon is a virtually flat course. The highest point, if it can be considered as such, will be in Elche (80 metres above sea level). From there, with a slight descent, it will reach Ciudad de la Luz (0 metres above sea level), continuing flat until the finish line at Dock 12 of the Alicante port, in the Ocean Race area.
The 42 kilometres are distributed as follows: 11 through the urban centre of Elche, 20 kilometres in the section between the two cities, and the final 11 through the urban area of Alicante.
