Slight panic in the Northern Zone of Alicante. The open field next to Emilio Valera School in Alicante experienced a small fire. The accumulated rubbish in the area caught fire due to the heat, according to police sources reported to TodoAlicante.
Around 4 PM, a black smoke plume was visible from other neighbourhoods. In the Rabasa industrial area, some residents were alarmed upon seeing the smoke curtain.
"What's burning?" "Could it be a bonfire?" "Surely it's at a school." These were some of the comments. However, it had little to do with any festivities.
As one moved through the Ciudad Jardín area, the smoke grew larger. Within minutes, a fire truck and two patrol cars from the Alicante Local Police arrived at the open field to extinguish the flames.
There were also some onlookers witnessing the small fire. "I saw the smoke and we came over to see what was happening," they recounted.
TodoAlicante confirmed that the flames were caused by the heat. The accumulated rubbish, including plastics and glass, created a mirror effect, which sparked Thursday's fire, now resolved.
