Lighting fires on the beaches and coves of Alicante during the night of June 23 will incur fines. Penalties of up to 1,500 euros will be imposed on those who commit this "serious" act as stipulated in the municipal ordinance.
During the 2025 Bonfires, the Alicante City Council has prohibited bonfires on the city's beaches, leaving behind the image that has been repeated for years on the night of San Juan.
Thus, the City Council will deploy a special Local Police unit during the night to prevent the lighting of bonfires on Alicante beaches this June 23.
The Security Councillor, Julio Calero, explained to TodoAlicante that the ban is intended to keep the beaches and coves of the city in perfect condition.
The burning of bonfires on Alicante beaches jeopardises the cleanliness of these areas. "We cannot adequately restore the beaches for bathers and users," Calero detailed.
To prevent fires on Alicante beaches, a total of 49 Local Police officers, including several commanders, will be deployed to primarily prevent this situation.
49 officers
The Local Police of Alicante will be distributed on the beaches of Alicante to prevent drinking parties and the lighting of bonfires on June 23
The Local Police officers will be distributed "across the four beaches" of Alicante, with a significant presence at El Postiguet, which will have 24 officers dedicated entirely to this beach.
San Juan beach will be monitored by a dozen Local Police officers, while Urbanova will have four, according to Councillor Julio Calero.
Additionally, the Alicante City Council clarifies that this Local Police device during the 2025 Bonfires aims to prevent bonfire lighting, inform citizens about this ban, and control everything brought onto the sand.
Focus is also placed on the consumption of alcoholic beverages, with drinking parties as the main focus of actions. It will be possible to dine with family or friends on the beach, leaving the area clean and without introducing, for example, glass bottles.
