Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the Popular Party, returns to Alicante amidst a political offensive against Pedro Sánchez, urging for early elections following the 'plumber case' and just two days after a protest in Madrid under the slogan 'Mafia or Democracy'. The Popular Party leader will attend a gathering with party members at a local restaurant on Tuesday, officially as part of a national congress preparation tour scheduled for early July in Madrid.

The reception of the Popular Party leader will largely depend on the success of Sunday's protest. However, Alicante remains a stronghold for the Popular Party, with an absolute majority in the Provincial Council and nearly one in the City Council. These visits, like the Madrid protest, compel local and provincial organizations to mobilize their members. Feijóo aims to have the party ready in case Sánchez succumbs to pressure and calls for early elections amid ongoing scandals involving his family and close associates in the PSOE.

The event will also feature Toni Pérez, President of the PP Province of Alicante; Luis Barcala, local party president; and Carlos Mazón, leader of the PPCV. The President of the Generalitat will also be present in his hometown. Unlike in Valencia, Mazón's presence in Alicante does not stir much controversy. The physical distance also implies an emotional separation, keeping the head of the Consell away from tense situations at events.

Thus, images of Feijóo and Mazón together will not be missing, more than seven months after the October 29 storm in Valencia, which resulted in 228 deaths. During this time, there has been talk of the growing distance between the national party leadership and the Generalitat President, with Mazón entrenched in the Consell.

If Feijóo's wishes come true, the PP would face new general elections in the summer, with Mazón under scrutiny in the Valencian Community, potentially used by Pedro Sánchez as a political tool across Spain. Tuesday will reveal the interactions between the national president and his PPCV counterpart, drawing attention beyond the criticisms of Pedro Sánchez's government.
