Much more than dance. The professionalization of flamenco in Alicante is one of the topics to be addressed at the VIII Mediterranean Flamenco Festival. For this, the dancer Fefa Gómez will share her insights on the genre this Thursday at 8 PM at the Aula de Cultura of the Fundación Mediterráneo, located at Avenida del Doctor Gadea 1.

During the session, the audience will explore through the artist's perspective the process of professionalization of flamenco and its impact on the local scene. Among the topics to be analyzed will be the evolution of this genre, from being a cultural tradition to a professional artistic practice with international projection.

The talk, originating from a research project linked to a TFG at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Alicante, will highlight the importance of institutions, such as the Fundación Mediterráneo, in promoting and supporting flamenco, as well as the challenges this art still faces locally.

She has a career spanning over two decades of international tours, working with renowned figures and companies such as Rafael Aguilar's.

Her career includes performances as a solo dancer, choreographer, and teacher on prestigious national and international stages, including her time at the renowned tablao El Flamenco in Tokyo. Additionally, in 2016 Fefa Gómez opened her own flamenco dance studio in Alicante where she trains future generations of dancers.

Moreover, the artist has created her own company and presented her show 'Reflejos' at various festivals, establishing herself as a key figure in the dissemination and professionalization of flamenco in the region. Additionally, her teaching experience extends internationally with workshops and performances in countries such as Poland, Scotland, and the Czech Republic.
