El Corte Inglés and the Federation of Sant Joan Bonfires (FFSJ) will inaugurate 'Els xiquets de la festa' on Thursday, January 30 at 8 PM, an exhibition paying homage to the artists, young bonfire builders, and barrackers who have been and continue to be the protagonists of the Sant Joan Bonfires. The seventh floor of the Maisonnave centre hosts this journey through history with the best special category children's ninots, a photographic exhibition, a display of children's llibrets, and an exhibition of Alicante's traditional children's attire.

The exhibition can be visited until March 1, showcasing the past, present, and future of the children's bonfires.

The Belleses del Foc and their ladies of honour, Alba Muñoz and Martina Lloret, along with the president of the Federation of Bonfires, David Olivares; the Alicante City Council's Festival Councillor, Cristina Cutanda; and the director of El Corte Inglés in Alicante, Miguel Garberí, will be responsible for inaugurating this unprecedented exhibition. Additionally, all the candidates for the title of Belleses del Foc 2025, members of both juries, and representatives from the various special children's bonfire commissions of 2025 will attend the event.

Traditional Days

The Federation of Sant Joan Bonfires aims to revive the 'Traditional Days' and will use the space to conduct various workshops dedicated to different aspects of the bonfires such as music, attire, makeup and hairstyle of the Festival, pyrotechnics, rice dishes, coca amb tonyna, protocol, and image consultancy for the beauties and ladies provided by El Corte Inglés' personal image experts, among others. The workshop program can be consulted on the El Corte Inglés website and the Federation of Sant Joan Bonfires website. All workshops will be free until full capacity is reached.

The exhibition features a representation of the ten commissions that plant in the special children's category in 2025, contributing ninots and models of their bonfires from previous years, from 1991 to the present day. It is an opportunity to enjoy a journey through the history of the best ninots, including those pardoned in this category.

Additionally, 'Els xiquets de la festa' includes a photographic exhibition with nearly 200 images aimed at paying special tribute to the artists and bonfire builders. A historical journey from the 1930s to the present day, reviewing the first steps of the children's commissions. Furthermore, the exhibition will feature models and sketches of the official bonfires 2025 by artists Pedro Espadero and Sergio Gómez, the children's llibrets from the last year, as well as the winners of the 2024 children's model competition.

In this tribute to the young bonfire builder, an essential element of the festival could not be missing: the traditional Alicante attire. Therefore, the costume designer Conchi Beneyto presents a display of seven children's outfits for boys and girls from the 18th century, both formal and work attire, as well as accessories, showcasing the different ways of dressing for the festival. The outfits have been crafted in cotton, brocade, and silks.
