In tiny rooms, monitored 24 hours a day and overcrowded. This was the deplorable state in which nine victims of trafficking were forced to live in two apartments in Alicante, coerced into prostitution. These women were deceived and recruited abroad by a criminal network that brought them to Spain, incurring an insurmountable debt.
Ten individuals have been arrested by the National Police, including a father and his son, leaders of this criminal organization. The son managed the shell companies used for collecting payments for sexual services and owned one of the properties used as a brothel, according to investigative sources.
This organization consisted of Colombian nationals who recruited women abroad to be sexually exploited in Alicante. The criminal network handled the entire relocation process, including plane tickets, hotel reservations, and any necessary paperwork, instructing the victims to claim they were tourists if stopped by border authorities.
During the investigation, agents from the National Police's Unit Against Illegal Immigration Networks and Document Fraud (UCRIF) discovered that one of the victims had incurred a debt of 4,000 euros with the group, preventing her from leaving the premises until this amount was paid.
In the operation, six women and four men, aged between 26 and 64, were arrested. Nine of them were Colombian, while the remaining individual was Spanish, with two of them being in the country illegally and only two having prior police records.
During the searches conducted, the National Police seized a starter pistol with 50 rounds of ammunition, 4,550 euros in cash, eight card readers used for processing payments, 20 grams of cocaine, a precision scale, and 75 performance-enhancing pills. Additionally, five timers used to monitor the duration of sexual services, nine phones, and extensive documentation related to the exploitation of victims and economic gain were found. A motorcycle allegedly used for the organization's activities was also confiscated.
This material highlights the high level of organization and the extent of the criminal activities carried out by this network, which used sophisticated methods to maximize profits from the exploitation of victims. Seven of the detainees were brought before the Alicante Magistrate's Court.
The exploited women lived a real nightmare, forced to engage in prostitution under unsanitary conditions 24 hours a day from two apartments in Alicante. These victims were constantly monitored by supervisors through video surveillance cameras. Additionally, drugs such as cocaine and pills to enhance clients' sexual performance were offered in these brothels.
In one of the properties, victims were even alerted to be presented to clients via a remote control that sounded a bell located in the bedroom. The women would respond to the call to be chosen and provide these services. The conditions of the apartments were deplorable, according to sources close to the investigation. These rooms were tiny, lacked ventilation and natural light, and were shared among several women.
The National Police reminds that human trafficking is a serious crime that violates the fundamental rights of individuals, especially women and girls, who are the main victims of these networks. In this context, the commitment of authorities and public cooperation is essential to prevent and suppress these illicit activities.
