The Sèneca bonfire enthusiasts erupted in cheers and jumps of celebration in the square, at the foot of their bonfire. The beauty Verónica Mataix, dressed as an Alicante bride, could not contain her emotion. "Since we saw it in the workshops, I was in love with my bonfire. It is very different and full of criticism; it has been a very special moment," she explained through tears.

Sèneca has come close to the top: only three points separate their 91 from the first place, which with 94 went to Baver Els Antigons. This time, second place felt like first.

"We are very happy with this silver medal, which we value greatly. There are more and more bonfires in the Special category, and the competition is tougher, which is why it is so difficult to achieve gold," said Amand Tomás, who personally took charge of communicating the news to the artists, who received it with enthusiasm.

The president also wanted to congratulate Baver Els Antigons on their victory: "We all want to win, but only one can. From there, the other nine commissions support the first prize," he stated.

Critics' Prize

'Fatal Attraction' has also been distinguished with the Critics' Prize, thanks to a proposal that includes references to national politics, the war between Palestine and Israel, mobile phone abuse, and fast food. The creation by Gallego and Pérez brings current debates to the table, such as gender violence and LGBT diversity.
