The Alicante City Council has requested the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to extend the discounts on urban transport passes for the second half of the year until December 31st. For now, these discounts will last until June 30th after the Congress ratified, in a second vote, the decree extending the subsidies.

These subsidies will also apply to urban transport in Alicante. To this end, the Governing Board approved this Thursday, in an extraordinary session, the request to access direct subsidies, committing to co-finance at least 20% of the price reduction established in the passes and multi-trip tickets, excluding child and youth tickets, as well as round-trip and tourist tickets, within the Coordinated Metropolitan Transport System, known as the TAM System.

The Alicante City Council continues to offer a 50% discount on multi-trip passes for urban buses until June 30th. Of this 50%, the City Council covers 20% and the rest is funded by the Government.

This 50% discount allows the 30-day urban bus pass to be priced at 20 euros instead of the usual 40 euros. The Móbilis Multiviaje pass for the general public offers 10 trips for 4.35 euros, half of the original 8.70 euros, and 13.05 euros instead of 26.10 euros for 30 trips; the Ruta 4/30 Joven pass is priced at 7.50 euros instead of 15 euros, and the Móbilis Jove pass for young people aged 16 to 30 offers 30 trips for 10.60 euros instead of the previous 21.20 euros. The same discount percentage applies to the Móbilis Oro pass for those over 65 and the Móbilis Escolar pass for schoolchildren aged 5 to 15.

The Alicante City Council has been applying fare reductions on passes since September 1, 2022, as a measure to promote and encourage the public urban bus transport service in the city, which is a municipal responsibility. This initiative responds to the economic and social impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and, subsequently, the war in Ukraine, aiming to address social and economic vulnerabilities.
