Bad news for 'The Family on TV' on La 1. The show, led by the 'Sálvame' team, loses ground on its second day on air. Unlike the first episode, which was entirely outdoors with a treasure hunt and parade at Prado del Rey, this episode provides a clearer indication of the show's direction. On Monday, from 15:54 to 20:28, it averaged a 10.1% share, largely due to the series' pull, with 807,000 viewers. On Tuesday, the show averaged a 9.5% share and 731,000 viewers from Studio 5 at Prado del Rey.
The TV 'container' faced its biggest setback in the second segment, which follows the series. On Tuesday, in its first segment from 15:57 to 16:51, the show maintained Monday's numbers, recording an 8.7% share and attracting 765,000 viewers, again ranking third among channels, just a tenth behind 'Tardear' (8.8%) and 4.1 points behind 'Sueños de libertad' (12.8%) during the same time slot. The series 'Valle salvaje', with a 9.3% share and 746,000 viewers, and 'La promesa', with a 14.6% share and 1,056,000 viewers, were unaffected by the magazine's arrival.
However, it was in the second segment of the show, from 18:35 to 20:31, where things worsened. On Monday, the show reached a 9.1% share and gathered 708,000 viewers in this segment. On Tuesday, it dropped 1.7 points to a 7.4% share, attracting 542,000 viewers, a figure not far from what 'El cazador' was recording in the same slot. 'The Family on TV' also lost by 3 points to Telecinco and by 6.7 points to Antena 3. In fact, 'El diario de Jorge', its main competitor on Mediaset's main channel, scored an 11.4% share with 798,000 viewers, and 'Y ahora Sonsoles' on Antena 3 achieved an 11% share with 796,000 viewers.
Undoubtedly, this is not the debut the public broadcaster expected, nor the presenters and collaborators, after many of them experienced a dry spell following their dismissal from Telecinco and ventured into content production, first via Quickie, a channel available on major streaming platforms, and then on Ten, where they produced 'Ni que fueramos Shhh...', the spiritual successor to 'Sálvame'. Nonetheless, 'The Family on TV' is a daily show, and it remains to be seen how it evolves in the coming weeks. What is clear is that the debut figures are worse than RTVE and the team themselves anticipated.
