Fabio Teixeira, Portuguese Talent Joins Horneo EÓN Alicante

Fabio Teixeira has joined Horneo EÓN Alicante for the next two seasons. The 25-year-old left-winger brings experience from Portugal's top league, having played for AA Aguás Santas for seven seasons. Now, he aims to establish himself in the Liga Asobal with Horneo EÓN Alicante, whose goal is to avoid relegation. Previously, the Portuguese player wore the FC Porto jersey (2014-2017) and trained at São Mamede, alternating with CDC Santada.

Teixeira (1.88 meters) is a full international with Portugal, scoring 11 goals in various call-ups. He participated in the U21 World Cup in 2019 and the U18 European Championship in 2018 with the national team.

Abraham Rochel describes him as "a young player with great potential and quality. Physically, he is very strong, which allows him to play as a second defender, a great asset for the team."

Additionally, Rochel acknowledges that the sports management and coaching staff are "very pleased" with his arrival because he was a player they had been following "for a long time" and, most importantly, because "he had other significant offers and decided to come to Alicante after learning about the project. We were very interested in his signing because we believe he has a lot of quality and he will surely continue to grow with us in Asobal," Rochel explains.

For his part, Teixeira expresses being "very happy and eager to meet the team, the fans, to compete in Asobal and to achieve great things, entering the club's history is one of them."

Horneo EÓN Alicante is serious about their Asobal promotion, having announced last week the arrival of two seasoned players from the Spanish handball elite: pivot José Oliver and centre-back Borja Méndez.

Borja Méndez comes from Viveros Herol BM Nava, where he played for the last two seasons. The 28-year-old centre-back from Vigo has extensive experience in the Liga Plenitude Asobal, starting in the 17/18 season with Condes de Albarei Teucro. Since then, he has played for BM Anaitasuna, Servigroup Benidorm, Recoletas Atlético Valladolid, and BM Nava.

Meanwhile, the Elche-born Oliver has played 168 matches in Asobal with BM Benidorm, scoring 66 goals, being more prominent in defensive play.
