All four markets supplying essential goods in Alicante (Teulada 'José Manuel Gosálbez', Carolinas, Benalúa, and Babel) will open this Wednesday, April 30th, due to the holiday on May 1st when they cannot set up their stalls as they usually do weekly. The Alicante City Council's Department of Markets and Commerce has authorised this extraordinary opening to facilitate shopping in the city and respond to the merchants' requests.
The Councillor for Markets, Lidia López, explained that "adapting holidays with new openings helps boost local commerce and sales in the markets. In a week with the May 1st holiday, it is important to offer an alternative to citizens so they can shop and also support our merchants."
In this way, it is planned that all municipal markets will open this Wednesday, April 30th, to replace the holiday. The facilities will be open for sales and public service from 8 am to 2 pm. The Councillor for Markets encouraged people to "buy zero-kilometre products in our municipal Markets and Markets and in local shops in our neighbourhoods because it supports quality, sustainable products, and in this way, we help keep them alive and promote them."
Meanwhile, the Alicante City Council and the Quintana Zone Merchants Association have presented the new spring commercial revitalisation event under the slogan 'Quintana. The blood stirs', which will be held on Saturday, April 10th, from 10 am to 5 pm. This year's edition will turn Poeta Quintana Street into the epicentre of culture, with live music, activities for children, animation, illustrators, art, tastings, gastronomy, and a day when nearly a hundred shops will take to the streets.
The Councillor for Commerce, Lidia López, along with the president of the Quintana Zone Merchants Association, Jordi Gisbert, presented the festival poster, which grows in participation and relevance each year. Quintana's spring has become a day that brings together hundreds of people to enjoy local commerce and bring it closer to the city, offering their products, promotions, and a unique experience.
Meanwhile, the president of the Quintana Zone Association, Jordi Gisbert, encouraged attendance, highlighting that "the Quintana merchants have been preparing this festival with great enthusiasm all year, and we encourage Alicante residents and visitors not to miss it because we have prepared many surprises, and it will once again be a great event with numerous initiatives and activities."
