Agents of the National Police, along with the Elche Local Police Force, have arrested the bouncer of a well-known nightclub in Elche for possessing an extendable baton and a non-certified defense spray. The man was apprehended for possession of prohibited weapons.
Several customer complaints initiated the investigation. According to these complaints, customers had sustained injuries from blunt objects used by the club's security personnel. As a result, the National Police and the Elche Local Police established a joint operation to detect possible criminal and administrative offenses in entertainment areas.
The officers were taken aback when, during an inspection of one of the venues, they discovered that a member of the security team had an extendable baton hidden inside a nearby fire extinguisher, ready for use. They also found a defense spray that was not certified for use in Spain.
The arrest was made immediately. During the arrest, the detainee claimed that he carried these items for self-defense purposes.
This was not the only illegal item uncovered during the operation. A metal bar was also found behind a bar counter, within reach of one of the establishment's workers and ready to be used at any moment. Additionally, officers discovered that four of the access controllers lacked the necessary certification to perform their duties.
The detainee, a 25-year-old Spanish male with no prior criminal record, has been placed at the disposal of the Elche Guard Court.
