Olga has experienced two of the most difficult moments of her life in just over 24 hours: at midday on Thursday, the court executed the eviction from what had been her home for 22 years, and barely a day later, she also had to leave the medical centre where she had been admitted due to lack of space.

This 53-year-old woman left what had been her home on a stretcher. Unable to bear the pressure, she attempted to take her own life by ingesting several boxes of medication that she usually takes to cope with fibromyalgia and depression. An ambulance picked her up and took her to the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Sant Joan, where doctors managed to save her.

However, Olga also had to leave the hospital this Friday without knowing exactly what her future holds. After spending just over a day in the hospital and being out of danger, she was discharged. "There are no beds for me to stay," she told TodoAlicante.

Now, this woman wonders where her home will be. Social services have offered her a pension, but her daughter is staying at her father's house, in the living room, and Olga wants to be with her.

So even though the reason for the separation at the time was gender violence, necessity has led Olga and her daughter to live again with her ex-husband.

For Olga's lawyer, Melardo Lainer, this situation is very unfair: "It may be legal to buy a house where someone lives and throw them out, but it is completely immoral," he repeatedly explained to the media during the eviction. The lawyer fears that without resources, the woman will end up in a homeless shelter.

This Thursday, Olga lost her home after living in it for 22 years. The eviction had been postponed twice, and while she left the building on a stretcher, security forces entered the residence with the judicial committee to carry out the eviction.

Olga's daughter, along with the family's two cats and some personal belongings, left the home with the activists from the Carolines Neighbourhood Union who had come to try to prevent the eviction. They are waiting to return to the house with court officials to gradually collect their belongings.
