'Enemies': Alicante also promotes itself in cinema and Amazon Prime

One only loves what one knows, so it must be shown by any means. And what better way than cinema and television. Filming not only brings economic benefits to cities but also projects the image of their locations, making viewers want to visit. Just ask Petra after Indiana Jones and Ireland after 'Game of Thrones'.

Alicante has long been part of the film circuit. Not only because of the Ciudad de la Luz studios but also as a location for productions, managed by the Alicante Film Office, part of the Alicante City Council's Tourism Board. In 2023, up to 70 shoots took place, including series, documentaries, commercials, and films. Among the latest is 'The Captive' by Alejandro Amenábar at the Santa Bárbara Castle, still pending. Until today, when 'Enemies' by Alicante director David Valero premieres in cinemas.

Two neighbourhood boys, one a victim and the other a bully, discover the consequences of revenge in their lives and experience a story of overcoming. This is the plot of 'Enemies', which will also be available in 240 countries via Amazon Prime.

The city shoot took place between September and October 2023 in the Colonia Requena and La Florida neighbourhoods. And, without spoilers, one of the film's most spectacular scenes, a chase, was also filmed on the Red Bridge. Additionally, interiors were shot at the Juan XXIII social centre, all managed by the Alicante Film Office.

The cast of 'Enemies' is led by Christian Checa ('On the Edge') and Hugo Welzel ('The Left-Handed Son') and also features Estefanía de los Santos ('The Laws of the Border'), Luna Pamies ('The Water'), Sara Vidorreta ('Queen of the South'), José María Peinado ('The Sack Man'), and José Manuel Poga ('Money Heist').

'Enemies' is produced by A-Típica Films, with José Antonio Félez ('Marshland'), Cristina Sutherland ('The Snow Girl'), and Alberto Félez ('Model 77') as executive producers.
