The national employers' association of the mobility sector, GANVAM, has requested the Ministry of Economy to establish a solid and stable commercial framework to ensure the investments of vehicle distributors.
The executives of the association, which represents the interests of the entire automotive trade and repair sector in Spain, met on Tuesday with the team from the Secretary of State for Trade, to whom they conveyed their main concerns regarding the future of the automotive industry.
During the meeting, led by Javier de Ulacia on behalf of the president of GANVAM, the employers' association requested that distributors be able to execute business plans with legal security.
In this regard, it was acknowledged that "given the investments required of us, it is unacceptable for manufacturers' commercial policies to change repeatedly within the same month. This is why we advocate for legitimate profitability and return on investment without an unfair transfer of costs."
The team from the Secretary of State for Trade committed to maintaining a constant dialogue and conversation channel with GANVAM and "have taken note of the concerns raised to work on possible measures together with the different actors involved in the sector's value chain."
"In a scenario of business model transformation where the entrepreneur must diversify their activity not only to sell cars but also mobility services based on connectivity and pay-per-use," GANVAM also requested support for SMEs to adapt to this new market reality and develop digital infrastructures that allow reaching users of these formulas.
In this sense, this association advocates for "a true comprehensive transformative strategy" that facilitates the adaptation of SMEs to the new economic and business model derived from digitalization, highlighting the need for support for a sector mainly composed of 42,000 SMEs that directly generate 350,000 jobs.
