The Embarrassment

After watching Leire Díaz's press conference, most Spaniards will feel ashamed; the nationalists will not. They will be pleased to see how the dignity of institutions is crumbling, how they have Pedro Sánchez increasingly trapped. How they have us overwhelmed and how the fundamental premise of any politician, which is the well-being of the citizenry, has gone down the drain. It seems that no matter how much it is repeated, no one remembers it.

We have witnessed the unveiling of the dark side of a party, a reflection of its leader. The one who hid ballot boxes to win primaries; whose moment of dignity crumbled, but who conspired to win at any cost, and won. We are seeing its reflection with all the filth that is emerging. We see what the configuration of its pawns, rooks, bishops, and knights has been. None with their movement on the board, all to defend the king at any cost and all to do so in a kamikaze manner. This cult of the leader without the capacity for introspection or self-criticism is very common in people who are irritated by freedom. Fear and insecurity cause an obsession with controlling everything and everyone to grow in the leader. Any thought not in line with the party's thinking equates to ostracism. This is the path that 'sanchismo' is taking.

The Socialist Party, a great party, with very capable people within. These capable people are silent and, as Edmund Burke said, "the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Evil is triumphing, this Wednesday it was televised and we have witnessed that it will not happen tomorrow. One of the voices we have heard the most calls for reflection and a return to the path of understanding with the other major party (if things continue like this, it will be the major party): the Popular Party. It is the voice of the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García Page. He tries to do something, but they have him absolutely cornered. If we talk about historical figures of the PSOE, like Felipe González or Alfonso Guerra, all of them are labeled the worst for asking to return to the path of consensus and to move away from those partners who will devour the socialists from within and without.

We are immersed in a kind of 'cosa nostra' that part of the Government, the sympathetic media (the firefighters are overwhelmed), are trying to tiptoe around and they also bear part of the blame. They are part of that group where there is no self-criticism or introspection. Besides accepting the theory of confrontation. Spanish society may have more patience than other societies, but it will explode like all others. We are witnessing a weariness of all this rot that has an origin. The origin is the reason why the PSOE made a motion of censure in 2018 against the PP: corruption. In this 2025, corruption is in almost all levels of government, from the achievement of the presidency of the Executive, seven votes in exchange for humiliating an entire country. Because of some supremacists. As the Radio Futura song would say, 'Both have fallen', we are "subjected to an unbearable tension of silence."

The future that presents itself, from my point of view, is only one: the calling of early elections. I am clear that it will not happen, a minister already said that they did not care what happened, they were going to hold on (I have softened the message) no matter what happened. But this, which they believe is good, turns bad for the country and I don't know if they will believe it, for them, the 'sanchistas', worse for the PSOE. Because although we say, 'sanchismo', which we say to not damage the PSOE more than necessary, in the end 'sanchismo' is PSOE and that right now is bad for Spain. We can only hope that the good ones within socialism will rebel and say we have come this far. We only have that hope left, we need certainty. Given what we have seen, that is not on the 'sanchista' agenda.
