Busot Animal Rescue Concern (BARC) has received a significant boost from the renewable energy company X-ELIO, which has contributed to the launch of new facilities inaugurated today. Thanks to this collaboration, the renowned Busot animal shelter will open 'Catland', a new area dedicated exclusively to cats.
X-ELIO has financed significant improvements at BARC, including the perimeter fencing of the new Catland residence, the donation of cat houses, a materials storage facility, the installation of safety nets, and the provision of equipment for the feline residence. These enhancements will enable BARC to continue its mission of rescuing, caring for, and rehoming lost, abandoned, or mistreated animals in this Alicante region.
This project reaffirms the renewable energy company's commitment to the local community and its natural and animal environment. The initiative is part of X-ELIO's Nature Plan, which is developed in the municipalities where it operates, aiming to promote native flora and fauna.
The inauguration of the facilities was attended today by Alejandro Morant, Mayor of Busot, accompanied by members of the government team and the councilors for animal welfare and environment; Pat Earle, president and driving force behind BARC; and Isabel Ruiz Franco, Head of Communication and Sustainability at X-ELIO.
During the event, Isabel Ruiz Franco from X-ELIO emphasized: "For X-ELIO it is essential to give back to communities what they provide us. With this project we are not only improving BARC's facilities but also contributing to the proper care of Busot's most vulnerable animals. We are proud to support such a noble cause committed to environmental and animal welfare."
For his part, Busot Mayor Alejandro Morant highlighted the project's importance for the local community: "The collaboration between X-ELIO and BARC is a great example of how companies, the public sector, and environmental associations can work together for the benefit of the community. The new facilities will allow BARC to continue its essential work of animal rescue and protection in Busot."
Pat Earle, president of BARC, also expressed gratitude to X-ELIO for their support: "X-ELIO's help allows us to continue rescuing and caring for animals at risk. Thanks to these improvements, Catland and our other facilities are better equipped, enabling us to offer a safer and more welcoming environment for the animals we rescue."
Following these remarks, there was an official inauguration of Catland followed by a tour of the renovated facilities.
X-ELIO, owned by Brookfield, specializes in developing renewable energy projects with a global presence in Spain, Italy, United States, Latin America, Middle East, Japan, and Australia. With over 19 years of experience and 2.8 GW built, this world-leading company is firmly committed to sustainability, reducing greenhouse gases, and combating climate change.
