Eleven arrests and 109 reports filed mark the outcome of the Big Fucking Party held near Ciudad Real airport. This illegal mega party, which attracted 5,000 participants, began on New Year's Eve and concluded after the Epiphany holiday. It was organised through social media and messaging groups like WhatsApp and Telegram to evade law enforcement control.
Of the reports filed, 76 were related to drug trafficking, a crime that also led to most of the arrests. However, there were also reports due to outstanding judicial warrants and attempts to assault law enforcement officers by individuals trying to enter the party.
Although a few vehicles remain in the area—a business park belonging to Ciudad Real airport—out of the 1,500 that initially caused traffic issues around Ciudad Real, the Spanish Government's Subdelegation in Ciudad Real considers the party over. "We will maintain controls in the area until the grounds are completely cleared," stated the subdelegate, David Broceño, on Tuesday.
The Ciudad Real 'rave' left no one indifferent, including the hospitality sector in La Mancha, who complained about the authorities' inaction in dismantling the illegal party. "An event was held without any administrative authorisation, which contrasts with the enormous bureaucracy we face if we want to organise a party," stated Juan Daniel de la Rubia, president of the Provincial Hospitality Association of Ciudad Real, on Tuesday. "There were no labour or health inspections, despite the sale of food and drinks. They didn't have to pay taxes, and yet the police were there to ensure nothing happened. Perhaps they should treat us the same," De la Rubia added with irony.
