The Public Space Department of the Elda City Council has undertaken the renovation of public lighting in the park adjacent to the Severo Ochoa Social Centre, where the offices of the Municipal Institute of Social Services of Elda (Imsse) are located.
In this regard, the work carried out has led to the removal of old mercury vapor globe-type streetlights, which emitted a very dim light and whose electrical installation was deteriorating over time, to install new, more efficient LED technology fixtures.
Moreover, the existing columns have been utilized as supports for the new double LED projectors, allowing each point to illuminate two areas, thereby increasing the amount of lighting throughout the park's surroundings.
The installed projectors have a power of 50 watts and provide both direct and indirect lighting of the area without causing glare, significantly improving the existing lighting compared to the old fixtures that were in place.
It is also worth noting that this park features a small stage where numerous events and concerts are held throughout the year, so the newly installed LED lighting will allow these to take place under better conditions by enhancing the lighting quality in all areas adjacent to this stage.
This renovation and modernization of the lighting fixtures to new LED technology also enables the creation of more efficient lighting by consuming less energy, reducing the emission of harmful gases in its production, and achieving savings on electricity bills, following the trend set in recent years to continue renewing public lighting and replacing it with LED fixtures.
"The renovation of public lighting around the Severo Ochoa park makes it possible to improve all existing lighting in this city area, which is frequently used by both children and the elderly, as it is a green and pleasant environment to enjoy moments of tranquility outdoors," stated the Public Space Councillor, José Antonio Amat, emphasizing that "the local government continues to strive to modernize our city, this time through the installation of more efficient LED projectors that follow the line set at the beginning of our term, resulting in the renewal of public lighting in a large part of the city, achieving savings of nearly 2 million euros on electricity bills."
