The Elda City Council, through the Department of Sustainable Urban Planning, processed a total of 633 responsible declarations, 96 minor work licenses, and another 62 major work licenses throughout 2024, of which 24 were for change of use. In total, 791 licenses have been processed, as announced by the City Council.

The data was provided on the morning of Monday, January 13, by the area councillor, Jesús Sellés, who reminded that "to carry out works, it is necessary to request a license that ensures both the safety of all people involved in the works and compliance with current regulations on occupational safety, urban planning, and the environment."

These figures are similar to those of the previous two years, in which 846 and 843 licenses and responsible declarations were processed, so in the last three years, nearly 2,500 works and renovations have been carried out in the city and throughout the municipal area.

Jesús Sellés highlighted "the increase in the number of change of use licenses, that is, commercial premises or ground floors that have been converted for residential use, rising from 11 applications in 2022 to 24 in 2024. In total, 51 change of use applications have been submitted in the last three years."

"In this regard," continued the Councillor for Sustainable Urban Planning, "it should be noted that most of the changes of use aimed to convert premises and properties into regular residential homes, focusing on accessibility, with adapted bathrooms, step-free spaces, wider doors, etc."

It is also worth noting that a significant portion of the licenses have been granted for works and renovations in homes and premises located in areas where, from the Department of Public Space and Investments, reurbanization works have been carried out, such as Feria-Cocoliche or Alfonso XIII, among others.

Jesús Sellés, who is also responsible for the Department of Modernization, stated that "with the aim of streamlining all processing and making the management of applications easier and more convenient, both for citizens and construction professionals, we are implementing new procedures from the Department of Modernization so that interested parties do not have to travel to the Urban Planning department and can submit their applications online."

If they need to visit the City Hall, the Appointment System is also underway to ensure that service is provided quickly and efficiently. "These measures have been made possible thanks to the replacement of the City Hall's IT systems and the promotion of the Electronic Headquarters by the local government," concluded Jesús Sellés.
