The Elda City Council has strengthened its commitment to the environment and animal protection by increasing the budget for these two areas by 37% in the 2025 Municipal Budget. This was announced on Monday by the Councillor for Natural Environment and Animal Protection, Cristina Rodríguez Armigen.

The accounts, approved in the Municipal Plenary, reflect a 37% increase compared to the previous year, representing a total investment of €200,000 in environmental and animal protection policies.

This increase will strengthen the public service for the maintenance of the municipality's natural sites, as well as implement new measures for the prevention of fires and natural disasters. Among the most notable actions is the creation of a bird observatory, with an investment of €20,000, and the second phase of the Vinalopó River renaturalisation project, which will have €48,000 this year.

Offer of courses and workshops

In the field of animal protection, existing services will be strengthened and citizen training in responsible animal ownership will continue through specific workshops and courses.

The councillor of the area has expressed satisfaction with the budget increase and highlighted the commitment of the Elda City Council to sustainability and the protection of the natural environment. "This increase will allow us to continue advancing in the conservation of our natural spaces and in raising public awareness about the importance of caring for our environment and animals," stated the councillor.

"With this investment, the Elda City Council reinforces its commitment to the environment and sustainability, consolidating its commitment to developing responsible policies and protecting the local ecosystem," concluded Armigen.
