The historic Calendura clock, located in the Vetlla tower of Elche Town Hall, is being prepared to chime the 12 bells that will welcome Elche into 2025 this Tuesday, December 31st. These maintenance works are carried out throughout the year, and now the final tuning touches are being made by clockmaker José Manuel Andreu, "to ensure everything functions precisely and the people of Elche celebrate the new year with Calendura."

Andreu recalled that the clock's mechanism is analogue and rudimentary, dating back to 1963: "The work of the entire year is reflected on the 31st, and we hope everything functions exactly and precisely. It is a task carried out with much affection, something I have longed to do since childhood."

The Councillor for Festivities, Inma Mora, has invited the people of Elche to celebrate the new year in Plaza de Baix with a grand party starting at 12:30 am and lasting until 4:00 am, featuring live music by DJ Jesús Rodríguez, confetti, and a fireworks display from the footbridge at midnight to usher in 2025.
