The Elche City Council has intensified cleaning efforts in the ravines and flood-prone areas of the municipality in anticipation of possible torrential rains in the coming weeks. According to the Councilor for Pedanías, Raúl Sempere, the municipal brigades are working on the most problematic points to prevent water retention and ensure proper drainage of rainwater.
This week, work is being carried out on the Canteras road, near the San Antón Ravine. The cleaning campaign, which began in June, will continue throughout the month to ensure that the drainage mechanisms in the municipal area are in perfect condition.
Sempere highlighted that «the municipal brigades of Elche City Council will proceed to clean the most problematic points where water can be retained during rains». Among the areas already intervened are the surroundings of municipal nursery schools, the slope of the Vinalopó River at Daimés, and rural roads with major issues, such as La Hípica.
Additionally, the City Council has requested from the Júcar and Segura hydrographic confederations the cleaning and conditioning of the larger ravines in the municipality. This request, made since June, aims to prevent obstructions and potential floods that could affect residents.
With these actions, the Elche City Council aims to minimize risks associated with torrential rains and protect local residents.
