The hospitality platform of Elche, in collaboration with the City Council of Elche, has launched the "Put on the Apron" campaign to raise awareness about obesity, particularly childhood obesity.
This campaign will allow for cooking workshops, open to all citizens, with professional chefs, where healthy cooking with locally sourced products will be demonstrated. Additionally, nutrition classes and talks on healthy gastronomy will be held in schools and colleges in the municipality, promoting sustainable and waste-free cooking.
The Councillor for Commerce, Caridad Martínez, explained that "the 'Put on the Apron' campaign aims to encourage people who have never cooked to start doing so or to cook more with local products to control obesity and lead a healthier life."
The president of the Elche hospitality platform, Paqui Solves, and the president of AESEC, Antonio Andreu, emphasized the importance of valuing Elche's cuisine and KM 0 products from Camp d'Elx. Paqui Solves invited all residents of Elche to send their healthy recipes to the email HOLA@PLATAFORMADEHOSTELERIA.COM, with the intention of later publishing a book with all the recipes.
