A lack of December data shows Elche had an average hotel occupancy of nearly 85% in 2024. This figure is 2% higher than the previous year. August, due to local festivities, was the month with the highest influx of visitors, with hotels at 92.5% capacity, followed by September and October.
Thus, the data published this Friday in a statement from the Elche City Council highlights a significant improvement compared to previous years. From February to October, occupancy rates were above 80%, and from April to October, they exceeded 85%, figures previously only reached from May to September.
Breaking down the tourists who visited Elche, the majority were nationals, mainly from the Valencian Community, Madrid, Catalonia, Murcia, Castile and León, the Basque Country, and Castile-La Mancha. Among foreigners, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany were the main markets. The council also noted a significant increase in visitors from the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Poland, and Portugal. The main attractions include the Palm Grove and its activities, as well as festivals, culture, and beaches.
During the summer, VisitElche launched a tourist information point in La Glorieta for the second consecutive year, attending to over 1,800 people, a 55% increase compared to 2023, with 75% of inquiries from national tourists and visitors. This initiative strengthens the service provided at the tourist office during the summer and festive periods.
Moreover, various services complementing the city's tourist offer also showed growth in 2023. The tourist train saw a 23% increase in passengers, and the guided tour service had 11% more users. Additionally, the VisitElche website recorded over 1.7 million inquiries by November, nearly 7% more than in 2023.
