The Department of Commerce and Openings has announced the exemption of municipal fees for commercial establishments wishing to display their products on the street on the last Saturdays of the month. This was explained by the head of the area, Caridad Martínez, who pointed out that it is a measure aimed at urban and rural area shops to speed up and give greater visibility to Elche's commercial establishments.
The initiative will be available for November and December 2024 and throughout 2025. Shops wishing to join and display their products on the street will only need to request authorization from Public Roads. "It is a measure that merchant associations have requested, and we have deemed it good for them to have a day to go out on the street without having to pay the corresponding fees," Martínez indicated.
Commercial establishments that request authorization to display their products on the street can do so on the sidewalk of their own facade, without hindering accessibility or urban mobility, and considering the obligation to leave passage for pedestrians without obstructing the way for people with reduced mobility.
In these spaces, decorative planters, signs announcing commercial activity, and tables or racks displaying products can be installed on authorized days and during the establishment's operating hours.
The dimensions of these elements will be conditioned by the space available to each shop, and in the case of signs, they may have a maximum dimension of 1 meter in width by 1.50 meters in height. Additionally, shops displaying food products on the street must comply with hygiene and sanitary regulations.
