Elche Hosts Second Edition of Superchef Junior from September 23 to 25

Elche's Department of Childhood, Family, and Seniors is launching the second edition of Superchef Junior, a culinary competition for children, scheduled from September 23 to 25 at the Municipal School of Hospitality. Participants can register from July 5 to July 21, either at the OMAC or online at www.elche.es. The requirements for participation include being aged between 9 and 16 years by July 21, 2025, and residing in the Baix Vinalopó region.

Aurora Rodil, the councillor for the area, explained that "the department has worked hard to establish this event where children learn and enjoy cooking simultaneously, and we hope to see the same enthusiasm this year." A total of 30 participants will be selected from those registered.

This time, there are two categories: one for participants aged 9 to 12, who will prepare their dishes on September 23, and another for those aged 13 to 16, who will have their turn on September 24. Six participants from each category will advance to the final on September 25, resulting in three winners per group.

In both categories, the winner will receive a bicycle, while the second and third places will receive backpacks. Additionally, all participants will receive a gift for taking part in the competition.

The jury will include Chema García from La Finca, Noelia Pascual from Cachito, Fran Castell from Pastelería Castell, Carmen Canals from La Latería, Odón Martínez from El Granaino, Pedro Venteo, known as El Monochef, Ana Santoyo from Misteri d'Anna, and Guillermo Tornel from Mar i Merlot.

The dishes prepared during the competition will later be compiled into a cookbook, which will be given to all contestants as a keepsake and to allow them to practice the recipes of other participants.
