Elche is on the brink of direct promotion to the First Division. Eder Sarabia's team holds a four-point lead over Racing de Santander, a team they also have the goal average advantage against, currently sitting in third place.
After the narrow victory against Racing de Ferrol (1-0), Sarabia expressed satisfaction with the growing gap over direct rivals: "Regarding the play-offs, the distance is becoming significant (ten points). There are many points and opponents left, but overall this victory is very important for us. The four-point margin with the third is crucial, but we cannot lose focus at any moment. We've set the goal of taking it match by match, and it has worked well for us. You look at the standings, you like it, and you celebrate. Being the team to beat demands more from us each time," the Basque coach recalled.
Sarabia also appreciated being able to rest players like Febas or Dituro against Racing de Ferrol, who had played every match until now. "Aleix has no issues, he could have played perfectly. Some had a heavy load of minutes, and we understand they will be crucial from now until the end of the season. Today, San Román didn't have much work but gave us very good feelings. We are very confident, whoever plays. Overall, a good match from everyone, although I think they can give more," he noted.
The Basque coach highlighted Elche's love affair with the Martínez Valero, where his team has only known victory for five months: "In this league, being so reliable at home is spectacular. The more we celebrate, the more credit we give to the opponent, the category, and the demand. We must continue to fuel the excitement and remain as strong at home as we have been. Many matches ago, I said that together we would be tougher for the opponents."
Finally, Sarabia warned that nothing is decided yet, and the hardest part remains: finishing the job to achieve the dream of promotion. "The less time left, the more we will demand of ourselves. I think it was a good match, and with a bit more precision, we could have won by more goals. The team's overall feeling is one of solidity, knowing what they want and what needs to be done at each moment of the match," concluded the Elche coach.
