Elche's Local Police have organised a special security operation for the Venida festival and New Year's Eve. A total of 3,600 officers will ensure public order and the safety of both the population and urban furniture until January 7th.
The City Council has stated in a communiqué that during New Year's Eve, the police force anticipates a "significant increase" in the number of attendees at night festivities, especially at the chimes and the New Year's Eve party that will subsequently take place in Baix Square to welcome 2025.
In this context, following the trend set in recent years, the Local Police will deploy 210 officers as part of a special operation for New Year's Eve and the San Silvestre race. Additionally, 131 officers will be assigned to the events of the Venida de la Virgen and 115 for the Three Kings parade.
The council has maintained that, in this way, security and order are reinforced with officers from the Territorial Unit of Community Police (UT), the Aerial Media Unit (UMAE), the Command and Control Team (Mercury), the Operational Security Teams (EOS), the Operations Support Group (GAO), the Establishments and Openings Unit (Linces), and the Urban Mobility Unit.
In addition, the Civil Protection Volunteers Group, which provides assistance and auxiliary functions in security matters, will be added to these forces.
Elche's Local Police urge "responsibility" from residents and all those visiting the city on New Year's Eve, while expressing confidence that the night will "proceed in the safest manner, thanks to awareness campaigns on road safety and community coexistence."
