Elche Completes Works in the Center to Level Sidewalks and Roadways

The Local Government Board has awarded the contract for the reform and adaptation to a single platform of San Vicente, Passeig Eres de Santa Llucia, and Portell de Granyana streets. The works will be completed in two months at a total cost of 104,410.90 euros.

Claudio Guilabert, Councilor for Public Services, stated that "with the adaptation works of these three streets, the process of homogenization and uniformity of the historic center, the most monumental area of Elche, is concluded, closing the circle after actions on Capitán Lagier, Porta Xiquica del Salvador, Calle Fatxo, or Calle Trinquet."

First, the current hydraulic pavement will be demolished and replaced, followed by the installation of an irrigation system for the new trees to be planted. Finally, printed asphalt will be installed to give a cobblestone effect.

The plan to adapt current streets to a single platform is also being carried out in the Raval and San José neighborhoods and will soon be done in the Altabix area.

Other projects planned by the municipal government include the remodeling of Velarde Street, which will improve the pavement and asphalt, as well as the creation of a new single platform on Barrera Street. These two actions will be completed before the end of 2024.
