Elche City Council will definitively approve the 2025 budget next Monday, following the resolution of various objections raised by opposition political groups.
The Councillor for Municipal Strategy, Francisco Soler, stated that most objections were dismissed for not complying with the regulations set out in Article 170.2 of the Consolidated Text of the Local Treasury Law or Article 22.2 of Royal Decree 500/90. He indicated that they "do not address technical or economic issues of the budget."
Regarding the objections related to the 2025 allocations for Home Telecare, Home Help Service, or maintenance of scanning and printing equipment, where the opposition claimed the allocations had decreased, Soler affirmed that "these are maximum contracts and there are no errors in the allocations, but rather an estimate adjusted to reality, based on the amount invoiced the previous year." He assured that "no service is being neglected."
On the other hand, he noted that the proposal to rectify the name of the item referring to European funds for the renovation of the Plaza Barcelona and Plaza Madrid markets has been accepted.
The 2025 municipal budget amounts to 275 million euros, 8 million more than in 2024, and includes a 9.5% increase in Social Action areas, as well as a 2% reduction in IBI for 2025, adding to the 1% reduction the previous year.
Once definitively approved in the plenary session on the 27th, the text will be sent for publication in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP), and the budget will come into effect the day after its publication.
