Elche's mayor, Pablo Ruz, has called for an extraordinary meeting of the local security board this Thursday to establish reinforcement measures and address the ongoing police investigation following the arrest of four minors on December 19, suspected of jihadist links.

According to a statement from the City Council, this meeting aims to uncover "all the details" of the operation and to determine the measures that need to be implemented "from now on by the State Security Forces and Corps to ensure the safety of Elche's residents."

The National Police arrested these four minors on December 19, who were then transferred to Madrid at the request of the National Court. Following their arrest, the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office ordered their detention at the Teresa de Calcuta juvenile centre, located in the Community of Madrid, which is responsible for those detained on terrorism charges.
