Educational staff in Alicante's schools now have a new protocol for support, advice, and assistance in the face of aggressions encountered during their duties. The document was published this Friday in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) with the aim of "ensuring the safety and well-being of teaching and non-teaching staff in the Valencian Community".

This is a "consensual protocol that will also include the publication of a guide outlining the necessary communication models and relevant reports," remarked the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón.

The protocol will be applied in all publicly funded schools in response to aggressions against staff, including those conducted through digital means. It encompasses teaching staff, non-teaching educational support staff, and administrative and service personnel in both public and privately funded non-university schools in the Valencian Community.

The protocol will cover teaching staff, non-teaching educational support staff, and administrative personnel from both public and privately funded non-university schools across the Valencian Community.

Mazón emphasized that this protocol "ensures appropriate legal assistance from the Advocacy of the Generalitat and offers legal advice and psychological support through the Network of Victim Assistance Offices of the Generalitat".

The scope of application includes aggressions occurring during teaching activities, complementary or extracurricular activities, during the provision of complementary services such as transport and school meals, or in the execution of administrative functions, as well as aggressions occurring in the exercise of their professional activity or as a direct consequence of it.

Coordination with the Authorities

The resolution also outlines the action guidelines. Thus, in the event of any aggression against school staff, assistance will be provided to help contain the situation by the personnel present at the time, and if necessary, immediate help will be requested from the police forces, whether it be the Local Police, National Police, or Civil Guard, to attend the school.

If the aggression could constitute a crime, the victim may file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office, the duty court, or at any State security forces and bodies' office.

Furthermore, school directors will report the incidents in the Previ Register of Ítaca and inform the educational inspection, as well as the victim, of the actions provided for in this protocol.

Additionally, a monitoring committee will be established to evaluate the implementation of the protocol, comprising individuals designated by the general directorates of Innovation and Educational Inclusion, Teaching Staff, and Public Function, trade unions from the sectoral tables of Education and Public Function, the Educational Inspection, territorial directorates, safety and health committees, and organizations represented in the monitoring committee of the educational reform in concerted schools.

Moreover, the protocol is accompanied by a practical guide for support, advice, and assistance to school staff.
