Swaying of the earth in Vega Baja. This is what occurred early this morning in Torrevieja due to an earthquake measuring 2.8 in magnitude at a depth of 4 kilometres, with its epicentre southeast of the town.
The tremor, which caused no material damage, was felt along the coastal area of this Alicante region. Residents reported the ground shaking to the emergency services at 112, who immediately, after verification with the National Seismology Institute, relayed the information to the municipalities on the southern coast of Alicante province to take appropriate measures.

27 years living in Barcelona and I have never experienced an earthquake. I go to Torrevieja for a week and just today, my last night, I experience a mini earthquake. It was quite strange, to be honest. It felt like my room was on vibrate mode.

Many residents took to social media to share their experiences, with one noting, "27 years living in Barcelona and I have never experienced an earthquake. I go to Torrevieja for a week and just today, my last night, I experience a mini earthquake. It was quite strange, to be honest. It felt like my room was on vibrate mode."
Others remarked that their houses "shook entirely" or questioned among themselves if they had felt the earthquake while in bed or on the street during these Easter days, when Alicante province becomes a preferred destination for many tourists.
