An Earthquake of 2.7 Magnitude Felt in the El Comtat Region

An earthquake with a magnitude of 2.7 was recorded on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 4th, in Alfafara, generated at a depth of approximately eight kilometers, according to the National Geographic Institute of Seismology. The quake occurred at 6:41 PM and was located at a latitude of 38.7897 and longitude of -0.5363.

The Generalitat's Emergency Coordination Center reported that the emergency number 112 received two calls related to the earthquake, which caused damage in Ontinyent (Valencia). There, an uninhabited house on Maians Street partially collapsed, but no personal injuries were reported, according to municipal sources.

The earthquake was felt in the towns of Agres, Agullent, Albaida, Ontinyent, Alcoi, Alfafara, Algars, Atzeneta del Maestrat, Muro de Alcoi, Aielo de Malferit, Banyeres de Mariola, Benissoda, Bocairent, Cocentaina, Montaverner and Villena. No significant incidents were reported.
