Several tips indicated that a man was allegedly trafficking narcotics in the Carolinas neighbourhood of Alicante. The National Police set up an operation in the area to catch the suspect, who was using counter-surveillance measures to avoid detection.
During the operation, a suspect appeared on a high-powered motorcycle. Observing "suspicious" movements, the officers decided to stop him. Upon searching, they found eight packages containing four kilos of hashish in a backpack.
When the narcotics were discovered, the suspect fled on foot but was apprehended by officers a few metres away. The seized drugs were valued at over 27,000 euros, according to police sources.
The detainee, a 28-year-old Spaniard with a criminal record for various offences, is charged with drug trafficking. Officers from the Northern Police Station, along with the 'Rayos' of the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) of the Provincial Police Station, were involved in the arrest.
