A Drone Locates Elderly Couple with Alzheimer's in Madrid

An elderly couple went missing on Monday, June 9th, in the Madrid municipality of Leganés. Both are diagnosed with Alzheimer's and, it seems, had become disoriented. Nearly 24 hours after they were reported missing, National Police officers successfully located them. The woman, who had collapsed due to the high summer temperatures, was found with the help of a drone.

According to the National Police, the man was located by a public safety unit. When officers arrived, they found him inside a trench approximately two meters deep, from which he was unable to escape on his own.

Upon realizing the woman was not with her partner, officers requested assistance from the National Police Air Unit, which proved crucial as the drone's images facilitated her rescue.
