The National Police have arrested a 46-year-old driver in Alicante during a traffic control operation. The man had 6.6 kilograms of hashish and around 700 euros in small denominations in the back of his vehicle.

The man was arrested during a road control operation conducted by National Police officers to prevent the commission of criminal offenses such as home burglaries. The checkpoint was set up in an access area to the city, and while it was underway, officers observed the driver behaving suspiciously, such as turning towards the back seats upon noticing the police presence.

According to a statement from the security body, the officers stopped the vehicle. The National Police found a bag with several packages of hashish weighing nearly seven kilograms in the back seats, as well as a bag containing 500 euros in small bills and another 200 euros that the driver had on him.

The market value of this quantity of drugs could reach up to 40,000 euros when sold at retail prices. Consequently, the police arrested this man, who is 46 years old and of Moroccan nationality, on suspicion of committing a crime against public health. The detainee was brought before the duty court of instruction in Alicante.
