Mar Domínguez, a journalist from Biscay and former director of the HOY newspaper, has been appointed as the new director of the Colpisa news agency, the central editorial office for Vocento newspapers. She succeeds Alfonso Aldeyturriaga, who is joining ABC as deputy director. At Colpisa, she will lead the news offering of an editorial team that publishes national content for 20 local and regional newspapers across the country, collectively achieving the widest circulation of the Spanish press.
Born in Santurce in 1967, Mar Domínguez graduated in Information Sciences from the University of the Basque Country. She began her career in 1989 at El Correo de Zamora as a reporter covering labour and municipal affairs. In August 1992, she joined El Norte de Castilla, a Vocento newspaper, where she held various roles, including delegate of the Zamora edition, head of Local in the central newsroom in Valladolid, and chief editor of the Valladolid and Province sections. She also served for years as the head of Information at the leading newspaper in Castilla y León until January 2022, when she was appointed director of the HOY newspaper. At the helm of the leading newspaper in Extremadura, she played a crucial role in both journalistic advancement and the digital transformation of the newsroom, as well as in the development of new content, platforms, and formats. Journalist José Orantos will succeed her at the helm of the Extremadura newspaper.
