Doctors in Alicante expressed their frustration on Monday over the health statute being developed by the Ministry of Health, which, among other aspects, mandates exclusivity in public healthcare for certain cases. Dozens of physicians demonstrated outside the General Hospital of Alicante, joining similar protests at other healthcare centres across the country.

"We unanimously reject measures that worsen our already diminished working conditions," stated María José Gimeno, the representative of the CESM-CV doctors' union for the province of Alicante, who acted as the spokesperson for the group outside the General Hospital.

The demands include achieving a new professional classification that considers the higher number of training hours and increased responsibility and qualifications. They also oppose the proposed system of incompatibilities outlined in the draft, affecting both Heads of Section and Service and specialists within five years of completing their residency.
