Audi expands the A6 family with an executive class sedan that sets new standards in design and aerodynamics, making innovation and comfort in the premium class tangible in every detail. Its aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.23 CX is the best value for a production model with a combustion engine in the history of the four-ring brand. The modern turbo diesel engine available at launch is more efficient and dynamic thanks to the MHEV plus light electric hybrid technology, allowing it to receive the ECO label from the DGT. Combined with sophisticated chassis technologies, the Audi A6 Sedan impresses with its qualities for daily driving and travel: both the adaptive air suspension and the four-wheel steering (optional) combine driving comfort with dynamic and sporty handling. The new Audi A6 TDI, in its entry-level version, is priced at 63,900 euros.

The equipment for the new A6 Sedan includes digital LED daytime running lights composed of 48 individual LED segments per headlight. The standard Matrix LED headlights are characterized by a perforated hexagonal stainless steel screen that conceals the digital daytime running lights, a new design that gives the headlights an even more striking appearance. With a total of seven digital light signatures for the front headlights and rear light clusters, several of which are designed as active signatures where individual segments intelligently light up and dim, the new A6 Sedan offers considerable customization potential.

The length of the Audi A6 Sedan is 5 meters, 6 centimeters longer than the previous model. The wheelbase of almost 3 meters allows for more comfortable driving on long journeys and contributes to the spacious interior. The body width is 1.88 meters without mirrors. The new switchable panoramic glass roof further enhances the sense of spaciousness. The trunk of the new A6 Sedan has a capacity of up to 492 liters.

Inside, the digital scene revolves around the Audi MMI panoramic screen and the optional passenger display. The independent MMI panoramic screen features a curved design and OLED technology, integrating the Audi virtual cockpit with an 11.9-inch (30.2 cm) display and the 14.5-inch (36.8 cm) MMI touch screen. Audi complements the setup for front passengers with another optional 10.9-inch (27.7 cm) display, perfectly integrated into the dashboard design. It allows the passenger to browse websites and stream video content, and also assists in navigation or, for example, finding the nearest service station. The new Audi A6 Sedan can optionally be equipped with a new configurable head-up display that allows a wide range of data to be displayed, such as speed, active assistance systems, navigation instructions, and multimedia information.

Efficacy and High Performance: MHEV plus Technology

At launch, the new A6 Sedan is available with a turbo diesel engine featuring MHEV plus light hybrid technology and will therefore be partially electrified. The new 2.0-liter TDI turbo diesel engine delivers 204 horsepower between 3,800 and 4,200 rpm, with a maximum torque of 400 newton-meters. The A6 Sedan 2.0 TDI is available with a dual-clutch S tronic transmission, both with front-wheel drive and quattro ultra all-wheel drive. To accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, the front-wheel-drive version takes just 7.8 seconds, with a top speed of 244 km/h.

The MHEV plus electric hybrid system assists the combustion engine, enhancing performance and driving experience while reducing CO2 emissions. It consists of three main components: a 48-volt battery, a belt-driven starter alternator, and the new propulsion system generator with integrated power electronics. The lithium-ion battery has a storage capacity of 1.7 kWh. The primary function of the belt-driven starter alternator is to start the engine and supply electrical power to the battery. The generator allows for partially electric driving, provides additional thrust, and returns energy to the battery during deceleration. The MHEV plus technology takes advantage of electric driving benefits when parking and maneuvering. The components that enable electric driving can also be used when driving at low speeds in urban areas, in slow traffic situations, or when approaching the next town. In these situations, the A6 Sedan operates solely powered by the propulsion system generator, making it especially efficient.

The optional quattro ultra all-wheel drive system with the 2.0 TDI engine distributes torque flexibly to maximize efficiency while providing all the advantages of quattro drive for even greater safety and driving dynamics. An electronically controlled multi-plate clutch distributes torque between the front and rear axles over a wide range, as required by the situation at any given time. Four-wheel steering is optionally available along with quattro drive, and its operation has been optimized to react even more dynamically. At speeds of up to approximately 60 km/h, the rear wheels turn up to five degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels, reducing the turning radius by up to one meter, bringing it down to 11.3 meters. This makes the car more agile in urban traffic and tight corners. At medium and high speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels, allowing for stable and even more precise handling.

The Audi driving and parking assistance package is part of the standard equipment of the new A6. It includes adaptive cruise control, a speed limiter that responds to traffic signs, a traffic sign recognition system, a "top view" surround view camera, and Audi parking assist plus with distance visualization. Other standard assistants include lane change warning, cross-traffic assistant, evasive assistant, front turn assistant, and emergency braking assistant.
